Getting to the museum:
– If you are coming from West Crete or Heraklion via the highway, take the south exit of the junction leading to the industrial zone of Heraklion and, then, take the right on Kazantzidis Avenue. When you get to the traffic lights marking the junction for Skalani, turn left towards the village of Skalani and follow the signs leading to the Museum, which is located in Myrtia, five kilometres further on.
– If you are coming from Heraklion, follow the road leading to Knossos. About 2 km after Knossos, turn left towards Skalani and follow the signs leading to the Museum, which is located in Myrtia, five kilometres further on.
– If you are coming from the port of Heraklion, take Nearchos Avenue towards the east. At the traffic lights, take the right on Kazantzidis Avenue. Go straight on for about 9 km and, when you get to the traffic lights marking the junction for Skalani, turn left towards the village of Skalani and follow the signs leading to the Museum, which is located in Myrtia, five kilometres further on.
– If you are coming from Eastern Crete or the airport via the highway, take the north exit of the junction leading to the industrial zone of Heraklio and take the on Kazantzidis Avenue. When you get to the traffic lights marking the junction for Skalani, turn left towards the village of Skalani and follow the signs leading to the Museum, which is located in Myrtia, five kilometres further on.
– If you are coming from the airport through the city, take Ikaros Avenue. Go straight on for about 2 km and, at the traffic lights, take the left on Kazantzidis Avenue. Go straight on for about 9 km and, when you get to the traffic lights marking the junction for Skalani, turn left towards the village of Skalani and follow the signs leading to the Museum, which is located in Myrtia, five kilometres further on.
The public bus line which serves to reach the museum is that of Heraklion – Kastelli with the bus departing from the central bus station at the port of Heraklion.
Every Monday until Friday with the route of 13.00 from Heraklion or 15.00 from Kastelli you can come directly to the village of Myrtia.
On the other routes, the nearest bus stop is the village of “Kellia”, 2.5 km south of Myrtia.

You can contact a taxi service from Heraklion and book your ride to the Museum. The ride lasts about 30 minutes. The average cost is 30€ – 40€ per route.
